THE CSB BOARD COMPRISES OF

• George F Daniel (Archbishop of Pretoria)
• Buti Tlhagale (Bishop of Johannesburg)
• The Regional Leaders of 15 Religious Congregations
• The Director of the Catholic Schools Office
• The Chairpersons of the Executives of the Catholic Schools Councils in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
• Representatives of Principals and Boards of Catholic Schools
• A representative of the Catholic Institute of Education
• A Staff representative of the Catholic Schools’ Office
• Three lay experts in the areas of:
  • Religious ethos
  • Finance
  • Legal matters

The Catholic Schools Board is responsible for promoting Catholic Education in the Diocesan and Independent Schools in Pretoria and Johannesburg.

THE CATHOLIC SCHOOLS' OFFICE (CSO)

The CSO together with the National Schools Office of the Catholic Institute of Education will offer various services to support Catholic Schools:

• promote, encourage and protect the ethos and distinctive religious character
• promote all the Catholic Schools in the dioceses of Pretoria and Johannesburg
• develop leadership qualities in the school community
• provide support to schools, the principals and the Boards of Governors
• develop and maintain sound relationships with principals and educators
• help to promote educational excellence, unity of vision and collaboration among Catholic Schools
• provide employment support for the Diocesan Schools
  
• co-operate with other bodies serving and promoting Catholic schools
  
• liaise with the Archbishops and attend Diocesan Heads of Department Meetings
• network with the owners of the schools
• monitor provincial legislation that impacts on Catholic schools
• make joint representation with other educational bodies to Provincial Education authorities
